Wednesday, 12 February 2020 – Aspiring Leaders Umrah Tour participants meet with the Australian Ambassador in Jordan.
Participants of the Aspiring Leaders Umrah Tour 2020, were delighted to meet with the Australian Ambassador of Jordan, H.E Mr Miles Armitage at the Australian Embassy in Amman.
The Leadership tour program, initiated by Human Appeal Australia is running for its 6th consecutive year and involves selecting over 20 of Australia’s Muslim university students from different cities across Australia including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane & Adelaide. In the 3 week program, participants visit historical locations, undertake intensive leadership workshops, and meet with prominent figures in each city we visit. The objective of this tour is develop the drive and the skills to create a positive impact and add value to their respective Australian communities, and to be exceptional and productive citizens of Australia.
His Excellency Mr Armitage was briefed on the work that Human Appeal Australia has undertaken recently in Australia with the bushfires and drought, providing emergency aid, particularly in Taree, Cobargo, Braidwood and Kangaroo Island.
Human Appeal Australia’s Director, Mr Bashar Al-Jamal extended an invitation to His Excellency to meet with His Highness, Prince Mired bin Ra’ad to establish a joint venture in opening a centre that will cater for the needs of children with blindness disability in Jordan’s North, as the first project of its kind in that region.
Mr Al-Jamal also announced his hope for partnership in providing a scholarship program for talented Jordanian students to further their tertiary education at prestigious Australian Universities.
The entire group expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome hosted by His Excellency, and the team at the Australian Embassy.
