Heavy rainfall impacting central Bosnia and Herzegovina this month have led to flash floods, triggering severe landslides. The natural disaster took the local residents and government by surprise, giving no time for evacuation and therefore resulting in devastating casualties and damage to infrastructure.
According to flash reports from the European Commission as of 7 October 2024, there have been 18 reported casualties, dozens wounded and at least a dozen more still missing as rescue operations continue.
The impacted villages have almost been completely covered by rubble and debris causing a difficulty in access for local rescue services. The infrastructural damages have impacted many homes leaving residents stranded and in need of urgent shelter and aid.
As we prepare to deliver and distribute essential humanitarian relief to those impacted, we are in need of your help. Any contribution made to this campaign will be directly allocated to mitigating the overwhelming struggle placed on local residents who have lost so much within the blink of an eye.
