The residents of the Harnai district, located within the province of Balochistan, Pakistan, were shook with a 5.9 magnitude earthquake yesterday morning.
23 people have been killed so far with almost 300 people sustaining injuries as a result of the deadly earthquake.
Balochistan is one of Pakistan’s least developed provinces. Most of the homes in Harnai, where the earthquake struck, are made of mud and stones, making them more susceptible to damage from earthquakes. Consequently, many of these simple homes have collapsed on the people whilst they were asleep at 3 am in the morning, leading to many injuries.
Human Appeal Australia is already liaising with its field partners to provide much needed aid in terms of food parcels, hygiene kits, and bedding for the affected families.
