Alhamdoulilah, Sounds of light 2014 came back with a bang! Running through 4 cities over 4 days, this entertainment spectacular gathered a crowd of over 7,000 people Australia wide and brought life changing sponsorship to over 2300 orphans from around the world.
The list of warm hearted entertainers who came together from around the world for this noble cause included the famous Maher Zain, Imam Siraj Wahhaj, Preacher Moss and Raef, as well as local talent , Kamal Saleh , Farid Sanullah and Izzat Mahadi. They set the night alight with their spectacular voices, humour and reminders of doing good. The heart felt messages struck a chord with the audience as they pledged and donated generously.
Right now disastrous floods in Kashmir have damaged or destroyed 12,000 houses. Entire neighbourhoods have been swept away. People need housing, clothing, food, bedding,
medicine, and more. They need our compassion. Flooding not only displaces people from their homes and destroys their possessions, the wet environment in unsanitary and diseases can quickly spread through the survivors. Acting quickly is essential to ensure those families are safe, dry, and warm.
For families who have lost their home and belonging, the least we can do is make sure they go to sleep on a full stomach and have a dry place to lay their head.
With the total deaths now exceeding 2,080 and the wounded over 10,000, the people of Gaza are going through extreme crisis. Even hospitals, a place to treat the wounded, have now fallen victim to airstrikes and missile attacks.
More than a month long, Gaza is rapidly running out of medical and food supplies and quickly finding thousands in need of a roof to sleep under.
