In an urgent response to the call for help by Rohingya refugees who have recently fled to the border of neighbouring Bangladesh as a result of the escalated violence and persecution.
On Friday night 22nd September 2017, Human Appeal Australia held Fundraising dinner at the Croation Club Punchbowl in Sydney to raise the awareness and collect donations to continue providing aid distribution in the field.
250 people including the guest speaker Sheikh Shady Alsuleiman president of ANIC (Australia National Imams council), Mr. Harun Harace; president of BRCA (Burmese Rohingya Community Australia) and prominent members of the community attended the event in respond to the emergency.
Dr. Zachariah Matthews; principal of Deen Academy hosted the event. The night started with a thrilling Quran recitation by Rohingian youth Br. Ibrahim Win. Afterward, Sr. Safyeea Ali; student of Social Science at University of Westren Sydney moved us with a powerful word of poetry. President Harun Harace gave his emotional speech about Rohingya’s current situation. Sheikh Shadi Sulaiman addressed the audience to stand together for such noble cause of alleviating the suffering of our Rohingya brothers and sisters.
Br. Bashar Al-Jamal the director of Human Appeal Australia shared his field experience last week with refugees at Cox’s Bazar; Bangladesh. He described the situation there as tragic.
Human Appeal also presented a 6 minutes video showing the last trip footage of the team on the field delivering aid and reflecting on the unbearable situation of the refugees at the border of Bangladesh.
The event concluded with the collection of $207,000 in donation for the sake of the Rohingya refugees.
Alhamdulillah, Human Appeal Director has already instructed our field office in Bangladesh to provide 4,500 families with food Parcels this week, to build 112 water wells including sanitations, and working in getting permission from the authorities to build tents for 500 families, Human Appeal Australia are also organizing in the coming days to mobilize the medical clinics.
